The Seismological Society of America (SSA) Community Grants Program provides donor-funded support for small meetings, workshops and other events that advance earthquake science. Since 2022, the program has helped members bring seismology to local communities, strengthen capacity for hazard assessment and expand participation in the field worldwide.
Supported activities include student forums, hands-on earthquake monitoring and seismic data-processing training, and workshops on passive seismic methods, distributed acoustic sensing, statistical seismology and seismic hazards. The program prioritizes relevance to SSA’s mission and innovative events that fill gaps in existing programming. Events can foster scientific exchange, practical skills, collaboration and involvement by communities underrepresented in seismology.
