Description
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) Public Service Award recognizes an individual or organization that has impacted the public by promoting, educating, or creating awareness of gastrointestinal health. It honors the dedication of considerable time or expertise to helping the medical community, the lay public, or both understand or cope with gastrointestinal health problems.
The award focuses on documented public-service accomplishments and significant contributions to gastrointestinal health understanding. It is presented only when an exceptional candidate is brought to the selection committee’s attention. The recipient is recognized during the Society’s Annual Meeting in a forum intended to ensure public exposure for the individual or organization.
