Description
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) offers this research fellowship to resident and fellow surgeons conducting research within the programs of SSAT members. Supported work may focus on clinical and translational research, outcomes and health services research, or basic science investigation. The award provides one year of support, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
The fellowship helps sustain research activity by defraying salary and other direct support costs rather than replacing customary compensation or benefits. The SSAT Research Committee reviews applications. Recipients also contribute to the Society’s scientific community by presenting a final report at the SSAT Annual Meeting following the award period.
