The SSHRC Talent Award is a prestigious recognition for individuals holding a SSHRC doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship or scholarship, awarded for outstanding achievement in research, knowledge mobilization, and demonstrated leadership potential within or beyond academia. The award can be used flexibly—either as a fellowship to support one year of doctoral or postdoctoral research, or as a grant for research, knowledge mobilization, or related activities within a year of receiving the award. At least 10% of the funds must be dedicated to promoting the recipient’s research achievements. UBC nominates one candidate annually to the national competition, where only one Talent Award is granted across all Canadian universities.
