The Scottish Society for Northern Studies (SSNS) offers the Publication and Conference Grant annually to support the organisation of relevant conferences and contribute to publication costs, including monographs and edited volumes. Projects must demonstrate relevance to the Society’s aims and objectives. SSNS encourages research on the interactions and influences of the Scandinavian, Celtic, and Scottish worlds, with interests spanning archaeology, history, place-name studies, literature, language, and manuscript studies.
The grant supports both scholarly exchange and bringing research into print. Funded conferences are documented through short summaries of their results and legacy for the Society’s website. Copies of supported publications, including publications resulting from funded conferences, are supplied to the Society for archival and/or review purposes.
