The Scottish Society for Northern Studies (SSNS) offers this grant to help students at all levels attend its in-person day conferences. Support contributes towards travel costs, while successful applicants also receive a waiver of conference registration fees. The grant funds conference participation rather than a separate research project.
SSNS encourages research on the interactions and influences of the Scandinavian, Celtic, and Scottish worlds, with interests including archaeology, history, place-name studies, literature, language, and manuscript studies. Applicants should explain how their chosen conference relates to their studies or career progression and to the Society’s aims and objectives. The grant forms part of the Society’s wider bursary programme and is administered through its Funding (sub)committee.
