Description
This grant, under the Just Transition Mechanism's Public Sector Loan Facility, funds standalone projects that address the social, economic, and environmental impacts of the transition to the EU’s 2030 climate and energy targets and 2050 climate neutrality objective. Projects must be located in EU territories identified in approved Territorial Just Transition Plans and must also qualify for a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) or its intermediaries.
The grant supports a wide range of sustainable investments, including:
- Renewable energy and sustainable mobility (including green hydrogen)
- Efficient district heating
- Public research and digitalisation
- Environmental infrastructure (waste and water management)
- Energy efficiency and sustainable building renovations
- Urban renewal, circular economy, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity
- Up-skilling, re-skilling, training, and social infrastructure (e.g., care facilities, social housing)
Projects may also include cross-border initiatives and must demonstrate measurable impact, particularly in greenhouse gas reductions, job creation, and social inclusion. All activities must align with the relevant Territorial Just Transition Plans.
