Description
The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) Innovation Awards support research that accelerates progress in basic, translational, clinical, and population-based cancer research, including the development of investigator-initiated clinical trials. Administered by SCI at Stanford University, the program advances the institute’s mission to reduce cancer mortality and improve cancer care through research, prevention, treatment, education, and outreach.
The program emphasizes interdisciplinary research and translating scientific discoveries into clinical research and patient care. Its goals include better cancer prevention, early detection, precise diagnosis, effective treatment, and the development and validation of innovative approaches to patient-centered care. Priorities include multidisciplinary collaborations, plans for external peer-reviewed funding, investigator-initiated trials, community outreach and engagement research, and non-viral technologies for delivering genes to tumors or tissues.
