Stanford University’s Cardinal Capstone Innovation Grants help faculty and instructors develop and sustain community-engaged undergraduate capstones. Administered through the Haas Center for Public Service’s Community Engaged Learning and Research team, the initiative supports experiences in which students apply cumulative academic knowledge to community needs and connect their studies with complex social and environmental challenges.
Planning Grants support curriculum development, partnership cultivation, and preparation for new or expanded capstone experiences. Implementation Bridge Grants support launching or expanding courses and integrating community-engaged pilot projects into existing capstones. Across both options, the initiative emphasizes meaningful student learning, community-identified priorities, reciprocal partnerships, and ethical and effective service.
