Description
The Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Center for IBD and Celiac Disease funds innovative, early-stage, high-risk, high-reward research not yet ready for NIH or other government funding. The program helps investigators across Stanford apply their expertise to pediatric disease and generate robust preliminary data for future external funding applications. This cycle prioritizes more projects focused on celiac disease using diverse scientific approaches.
Supported work includes basic and translational studies of disease mechanisms, therapeutic strategies, and treatment response; novel technologies for diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and prediction; and clinical research on treatment strategies, health services, epidemiology, outcomes, and health care disparities. Computational and systems biological approaches are also supported. Multi-PI teams spanning disciplines are strongly encouraged, particularly collaborations between basic or data scientists and physician scientists. Single-PI proposals are considered when the scientific rationale is compelling.
