Description
RAISE Health (Responsible AI for Safe and Equitable Health) is a joint initiative of Stanford Medicine and the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. Its seed grant program supports research and education advancing responsible AI innovation across biomedical research, education, and patient care. Priorities include evaluation methods for fair healthcare algorithms, ethical or legal implications of healthcare AI, and programs helping patients, care providers, and researchers navigate AI advances.
Projects should strengthen AI trustworthiness and its responsible integration into medicine. The program emphasizes transparency, fairness, accountability, patient privacy, data security, bias mitigation, and reliable performance across healthcare settings. Its goals include improving clinical outcomes, accelerating research on major health challenges, and ensuring all communities—including groups underrepresented in biomedical research—benefit from AI innovations.
