Stanford Sustainability Accelerator Seed Grants support the translation of Stanford research into scalable technology and policy solutions addressing urgent global sustainability challenges. Based at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, the Accelerator aims to improve the quality of human life and the health of the planet by helping research move toward practical impact beyond the university.
Unlike traditional academic funding, the program emphasizes solutions with transformative potential to scale within three years. The 2026 call covers eight areas: biological solutions, climate adaptation, electricity and grid systems, food and agriculture, greenhouse gas removal, industry, planetary intelligence, and water. Its priority is technical and policy work with near-term potential to meet real-world sustainability needs.
