Stanford Public Humanities’ Humanities Seed Grants support innovative, public-oriented faculty research in the humanities, including allied fields such as qualitative social sciences, education, and law. The program advances Stanford’s goal of helping students and the wider public reimagine the human future through research addressing questions of meaning, interpretation, and value.
Projects may build intellectual networks, address new questions, or bring humanistic approaches across disciplinary boundaries to pressing social and environmental issues. The program encourages engagement with local, national, and international communities and research that magnifies impact through its questions, design, or methodology. Supported dissemination can extend beyond scholarly monographs to exhibitions, public installations, talks, articles in major publications, public-facing websites, open databases, and podcasts.
