Stanford and LCC Technologies Alliance: Small Molecule Therapeutics supports Stanford research teams with medicinal chemistry to turn small molecule leads into patentable drug prototypes for unmet medical needs.
Funder: Stanford University
Due Dates: October 23, 2026 (LOI/proposal)
Funding Amounts: Medicinal chemistry support for 12–18 months; no PI lab salary support
Summary: The alliance helps Stanford teams develop small molecule leads into patentable drug prototypes.
Key Information: Applicants must be Stanford faculty with PI status; Instructors and Clinical Instructors need a faculty PI waiver.
The Stanford University and LCC Technologies Alliance supports the translation of Stanford discoveries into potential medicines. It provides medicinal chemistry support from hit identification through lead identification, starting with small molecule leads or series and working toward high-quality, patentable drug prototypes. Projects that have completed high-throughput screening campaigns may enter; basic research, including target identification, is outside the solicitation’s scope.
LCC’s Medicinal Chemistry Team works with selected projects through iterative design, synthesis, testing, and analysis to improve properties such as potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. The work aims to test a therapeutic hypothesis addressing a poorly met medical need while generating intellectual property around the resulting prototype.
