Description
Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers support clinical researchers who have research time but need funding to pursue their work and establish independent careers. Administered by the Academy of Medical Sciences with Wellcome and partner funders, the scheme provides research funding and mentoring to help applicants gather preliminary evidence for longer-term fellowships and funding.
Projects should fall within Wellcome’s discovery research remit, the Medical Research Council’s remit, or that of another specialist funder supporting the scheme. Veterinary proposals must demonstrate clear relevance to human health. Awards cover directly incurred research costs rather than applicants’ salaries or the employment of new research staff.
