Description
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry Startup Grants support small projects focused on initial steps in community tree care and management. These simplified, competitive cost-share grants are intended for communities starting a program or resuming an inactive one, with the long-term goal of establishing sustained community tree management. They support new projects rather than subsidizing ongoing operations or replacing existing funds.
Projects can combine tree care, inventories, management planning, staff training and public education. The broader Urban Forestry Grant Program seeks to improve communities’ capacity to manage trees while conserving, protecting, expanding or improving their urban forests. Startup applications are reviewed separately from Regular Urban Forestry Grant applications.
