Description
This funding opportunity aims to strengthen the capacity of state, local, tribal, and territorial public health laboratories to conduct high-quality biomonitoring and assess human exposure to environmental chemicals. The program supports activities such as:
- Community biomonitoring investigations for metals, pesticides, or PFAS in targeted areas
- State- or regional-level biomonitoring studies
- Measurement of chemicals of emerging concern not included in the National Exposure Report (e.g., radiobioassay, nontargeted analysis, microplastics, nutritional biomarkers, ethylene oxide, or assessment of secondhand smoke exposure to cannabis)
Funded projects are expected to enhance laboratory capacity and technical expertise, foster coordination and collaboration with partners, and ensure clear reporting of findings to relevant audiences. The overall goal is to identify and reduce harmful exposures and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
