Description
WSDOT’s Public Transportation Division administers this competitive program for capital projects involving transit vehicles and facilities. Funding may support replacing, expanding, rehabilitating, or purchasing transit rolling stock; constructing, modifying, or rehabilitating facilities; retrofitting vehicles and facilities for technological change; and improvements that increase safety and security.
Established under Move Ahead Washington, the program is funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. WSDOT incorporates environmental justice into selection and considers projects’ safety and state-of-good-repair needs, benefits to overburdened communities and vulnerable populations, local or regional priority, readiness, and the applicant’s project experience. WSDOT also seeks an equitable distribution among large urban, small urban, and rural transit agencies.
