Description
The State Buses and Bus Facilities Grant Program is a competitive capital grant administered by WSDOT’s Public Transportation Division. It supports replacement, expansion, rehabilitation, and purchase of transit rolling stock; construction, modification, or rehabilitation of transit facilities; technology retrofits; and safety and security improvements. Rolling stock includes buses, ferries, and vans.
Established under the 16-year Move Ahead Washington transportation package, the program is funded entirely through Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. Selection emphasizes state-of-good-repair and safety needs, measurable service benefits, environmental harms and benefits for overburdened communities and vulnerable populations, local and regional priorities, implementation readiness, and project experience. WSDOT also considers equitable geographic distribution across large urban, small urban, and rural transit agencies.
