Description
The Kansas Governor’s Grants Program (KGGP) administers the Federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program with funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). SCIP supports state, local, and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce gun violence and violent crime through court-based programming, referrals to community services for people in crisis, and law enforcement crisis intervention initiatives.
The Kansas SCIP Plan guides funding decisions toward measurable results. Supported work includes treatment and domestic violence courts, diversion, behavioral health crisis services, suicide prevention, co-responder programs, threat assessment, gun safety, and data analysis. The Plan also provides for evaluation of funded projects. The seven-member SCIP Advisory Board represents law enforcement, communities, courts, prosecutors, behavioral health providers, victim services, and the legal profession.
