Description
The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA) funds organizations to provide services through the State Food Assistance Employment and Training (FAP E&T) program. Established in 2023, the program offers voluntary employment-readiness opportunities to State Food Assistance customers, including immigrants and refugees, to help them prepare for work, obtain employment, and stay employed.
Applicants may propose activities such as job readiness training, job search assistance, basic education, English language acquisition, nonpaid work experience, job retention, and self-employment training. They do not need to offer every listed activity; ORIA also welcomes other proposed approaches. Support services to help participants overcome barriers to employment or program participation are a required part of the program.
