Description
Established by the Arizona legislature in 1981, State Grants-in-Aid (SGIA) is administered by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records to help libraries meet Arizona residents’ information needs. It provides construction funding to qualifying public libraries and annual service awards to county libraries and municipal libraries in cities with populations of at least 100,000.
Construction funding may support new buildings, facility improvements that meet community needs, and renovations addressing the Americans with Disabilities Act. Annual awards support library services across a county or city, rather than indirect or administrative costs. Construction grants are competitive and paid on a reimbursement basis.
