Description
The State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSP) is a federally funded, reimbursable pass-through program administered in Alaska by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS&EM). It supports local and tribal preparedness activities that address identified capability gaps and targets connected to terrorism. Eligible work includes planning, equipment, training, and exercises that also may strengthen preparedness for natural disasters and other catastrophic events.
Alaska prioritizes projects that close gaps identified through the Alaska Assessment or exercise/event after-action reports, with an emphasis on increasing capabilities rather than only sustaining them. SHSP also supports national preparedness strategies, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the National Response Framework. Funding priorities include law enforcement terrorism prevention, protection of crowded places, cybersecurity, fusion centers, election security, and border security.
