Description
The State Housing Trust Fund, administered by the Iowa Finance Authority, provides funding to expand and preserve affordable, safe, and decent housing throughout Iowa. The Fund operates two main programs:
- Local Housing Trust Fund Program (LHTF): Provides grants to certified local housing trust funds to address local affordable housing needs, including new construction, rehabilitation, down payment assistance, and housing for special populations.
- Project-Based Housing Program: Supports affordable housing projects not eligible under a local trust fund’s plan, including new construction, adaptive reuse, rehabilitation, and housing for extremely low-income or homeless Iowans.
Both programs aim to increase housing opportunities for low- and extremely low-income households statewide.
