Description
The State Lake Improvement Fund (SLIF) supports improvements to public waters and boating-related recreation facilities across Arizona. Administered by the Arizona State Parks Board through Arizona State Parks & Trails, it funds boating access such as ramps, docks, and parking; navigation aids; boating safety and education; and law enforcement projects. Its goals are to improve access, navigation, and safety on waterways where gasoline-powered boats are allowed.
SLIF is subject to annual legislative appropriations. The fund draws on a portion of motor vehicle fuel taxes and watercraft registration fees. Arizona State Parks & Trails reports that it received no additional FY27 SLIF funds for grant funding opportunities.
