Description
The California Arts Council’s State-Local Partner Mentorship program funds two existing State-Local Partners to help establish county-designated local arts agencies in Glenn and Kings counties, where no such agency has been identified. These agencies support arts and cultural activity throughout an entire county, providing financial support, services, and programming for arts organizations, individual artists, and the wider community.
The program’s broader goal is to establish an active partner in each county within two to three years, either as a county government unit or an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Mentors support the new agencies through their first two years of arts programming and services, preparing them to qualify independently for State-Local Partners funding. The work emphasizes community participation, equity, accessible services, organizational development, and sustainable staffing and budgets.
