Description
This opportunity is a forecasted cooperative agreement from the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) to support state, local, tribal, and other eligible entities in implementing and evaluating comprehensive suicide prevention strategies. The program targets populations and settings identified through data as having a significant burden of suicide or emerging suicide-related trends—such as veterans, rural communities, youth, older adults, men, and high-risk occupational groups.
Funded recipients are expected to:
- Use timely, relevant data to identify Focus Prevention Areas (FPAs), understand contributors to suicide, and monitor trends.
- Assess existing suicide prevention efforts and identify programmatic gaps.
- Strengthen and coordinate multi-sector partnerships.
- Select and implement evidence-based prevention strategies from CDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource for Action.
- Communicate findings and progress to partners and stakeholders.
- Evaluate activities with a focus on continuous improvement, sustainability, and measurable outcomes (including a 5% reduction in suicide mortality among selected FPAs over the award period).
