Description
The Stefan Bergman Fellowship is administered by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) to advance the research portfolio of an early-career mathematician specializing in real analysis, complex analysis, or partial differential equations. Its flexible support allows recipients to use the award in whatever way most effectively enables their research, including release time, participation in special research programs, travel, and childcare.
Established in 2023 with proceeds from the Stefan Bergman Trust, the fellowship honors Stefan Bergman, known for his work in several complex variables, the Bergman projection, and the Bergman kernel function. AMS allocated the Stefan Bergman Endowment to establish this program as its first fellowship specifically for early-career mathematicians.
