Description
The Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement’s STEM Action Center funds opportunities for Utah students in grades K–12 to participate in meaningful STEM competitions. The grant aims to deepen students’ understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through competition experiences. It replaces the former Fairs, Camp, and Competitions Grant.
Previously funded events include state and regional STEM Olympiads, VEX and FIRST Robotics competitions, science and engineering fairs, math contests, and coding competitions. The STEM Action Center decides whether a competition provides a meaningful STEM opportunity. Applicants unsure whether an event qualifies can send Sarah Broadbent a description of the competition.
