Description
The Utah STEM Action Center, within the Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement, funds new computing activities and expansion of proven programs through this grant. Its goal is to address gaps in computing opportunities for Utah students and educators. Computing includes computer science, information technology, information systems, computer and software engineering, cybersecurity, digital media, and game development.
The program encourages coding integrated into problem solving, cross-disciplinary activities, and access for students with a variety of interests and backgrounds. Activities may occur during classroom instruction, but must clearly support a project focused primarily on out-of-school time. Eligible key activities include makerspaces, camps, mentorships, work-based learning, external partnerships, and professional development.
