The Stephen R. Tully Research Grant is administered by the Raptor Research Foundation to support research and conservation of raptors. It especially supports students and amateurs with limited access to alternative funding. Established in 1983 by Steve Tully’s family and friends, the grant honors a young raptor biologist and falconer who died in 1978 at age 21, perpetuating his interest in the study and protection of birds of prey.
Supported work spans raptor ecology, population genetics, breeding success, habitat use, and conservation education. Past projects have examined habitat fragmentation, agricultural intensification, pollutants, disease, and human noise, as well as conflicts between raptors and poultry farmers. Funded research and conservation projects have taken place in locations worldwide.
