    Description

The New Jersey Department of Health’s Stop School Violence (SAFE NJ) program supports a trauma-informed, human and healing-centered anonymous reporting system and school safety program for students, staff, families, and communities. It connects families with basic needs, crisis support, and mental health resources while protecting their privacy and dignity. The program encourages school community members to seek help for themselves or others at the earliest possible point.

SAFE NJ combines anonymous reporting capabilities, safeguards, and escalation procedures with local incident management to reduce the burden on school personnel. Through the SAFE NJ app, students learn that asking for help is an important life skill. The statewide initiative also connects students to licensed New Jersey-based mental health counselors through the 2NDFLOOR Youth Helpline.
