Description
The S.T.O.P. (Services-Training-Officers-Prosecutors) Violence Against Women Grant Program is administered by the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council (DAC). It strengthens the criminal justice system’s response to violence against women and enhances services for victims. The program encourages coordinated, multidisciplinary approaches involving victim service providers, prosecutors, law enforcement, and courts to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Supported work includes professional training, specialized justice-system units, response policies, data systems, evidence collection, victim advocacy, legal assistance, shelter, crisis intervention, and prevention programming. The VAWA Grant Board develops the state implementation plan, reviews proposals, and determines awards. Its priorities emphasize victim support, access for underserved populations, effective investigation and prosecution, judicial capacity, community coordination, and prevention of potentially lethal violence.
