Summary: Supports UK research organisations to acquire or enhance major strategic infrastructure to advance high-priority EPSRC research.
Key Information: Institutional limit: max six applications per institution (18 June 2025–17 June 2026).
This opportunity provides funding for UK research organisations to purchase or support major strategic infrastructure—such as equipment or resources—to strengthen UK scientific capability and enable research aligned with the priorities of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Funding is available through two routes: (1) acquisition and set-up of new strategic infrastructure, and (2) resources to support existing infrastructure (by invitation only). The aim is to empower transformative research, increase research capacity, enhance sustainability, and ensure accessibility of infrastructure crucial for EPSRC’s remit.
Applicants must demonstrate the strategic importance of the infrastructure to their institution and the national research landscape, provide robust management and sustainability plans, and articulate a clear vision for maximising impact and utilisation.
