Description
The Systems for Tracking and Resilience in Efficient Agricultural-input Management (STREAM) program, led by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), seeks to revolutionize the management of herbicides and crop protection chemicals in American agriculture. The program aims to modernize farm practices and enhance food supply security by supporting interdisciplinary research to:
- Develop safer, next-generation crop protection formulations.
- Advance precision and nonchemical weed-control technologies.
- Improve monitoring and sensing of herbicides in the environment.
- Create methods to remove or degrade herbicides from soil and water.
By addressing these challenges, STREAM aims to reduce the chemical burden on consumers and agricultural workers, protect environmental and soil health, and offer economically viable alternatives to current herbicide practices.
