This European Remembrance priority funds projects preserving the memory of Roma and Sinti victims of Nazi genocide while addressing the longer history of antigypsyism, including slavery, forced displacement, persecution and coercive policies. Managed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) under CERV, it seeks to counter denial, distortion, trivialisation and the marginalisation of Roma victimhood, strengthening democratic resilience and preventing renewed hatred.
Supported work includes documenting historical injustices, digitising testimonies and archives, developing teaching materials, researching restitution, and sharing stories of Roma resistance and contributions to European history. Projects may support grassroots commemorations, Roma and non-Roma youth ambassador networks, artistic memory initiatives and transitional justice approaches. Special priority goes to projects connecting Roma Holocaust remembrance with the deeper roots of antigypsyism.
