Description
This funding opportunity aims to strengthen services that prevent the infectious disease consequences of drug use, particularly in high-impact settings serving people who use drugs (PWUD). The initiative is structured into two components:
- Component 1: Conducts a biennial survey to document capacity, needs, access, and service gaps, as well as a biennial biobehavioral survey to improve local data on infectious disease outcomes and service utilization among PWUD.
- Component 2: Expands support for the availability and use of infectious disease testing, treatment, and prevention services in these settings.
Applicants may apply for either or both components. Expected outcomes include improved data-driven capacity at national and local levels, increased testing for HBV, HCV, and HIV among PWUD, more PWUD with hepatitis C initiating treatment, and more PWUD with HIV engaging in care and treatment. The program aligns with CDC priorities for infectious disease prevention among vulnerable populations.
