Description
The Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education (TSF) provides initial support for original research by cardiothoracic surgeons who have completed their formal training. The STS Research Award designation goes to the highest-ranking TSF research application selected through peer review.
TSF gives preference to clinical or laboratory investigations likely to generate data that helps the surgeon obtain subsequent research support. Reviewers consider originality, a clear and logical research plan, feasibility, the importance and potential impact of the question in cardiothoracic surgery, and the quality of the applicant and research environment.
