Description
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation’s Student Award Program supports medical and doctoral students in Michigan whose research aims to improve healthcare within the state. Supported work includes applied research, pilot programs, demonstrations and evaluation projects. The Foundation reviews projects for their ability to achieve real outcomes and demonstrate a direct impact on health or healthcare.
Proposals should explain how the work addresses health outcomes and non-medical drivers of health, offers value to the population, increases care quality and improves healthcare access. Past awards span healthcare access barriers, maternal and infant health, mental health, cancer care, medication management and early disease detection. Projects have included needs assessments of student-run free clinics, disability-inclusive trauma care research and tools for estimating health risks.
