Description
The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) offers this grant to help its Student Chapters increase their involvement in local science outreach. It welcomes in-person, hybrid and virtual programming, with an emphasis on creative ideas that consider accessibility, sustainability and reach. Proposals engaging audiences beyond campus are preferred, while events aimed at recruiting undergraduates to join a chapter are discouraged.
Supported activities include hands-on science with local schools, science demonstrations, visits to biochemistry laboratories for experiments, science festivals and fairs, science cafés and podcast series. The program values feasible, well-planned activities that address a scientific need and can continue beyond the initial grant. Informal assessment of effects on chapter students and the target audience is part of the review.
