The Student Development Research Awards (SDRA) program, administered by Kentucky INBRE, supports promising undergraduates in high-quality, faculty-mentored biomedical research at their home institutions. It advances the NIH objective of increasing undergraduate participation in biomedical, clinical, behavioral and social sciences research, particularly at primarily undergraduate institutions.
Projects combine hands-on research with structured mentoring and career development to build students’ research capabilities and support progression into the biomedical workforce. Students participate in experimental design, execution, analysis and dissemination of results. The research training and career development plans describe supervision, milestones and preparation for the next stage of each student’s research career. Preliminary data are not required.
