Description
This Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action (RIA) supports research on how schools can serve as centers for practicing and innovating participatory practices that foster a democratic culture. The call emphasizes the importance of student and family engagement in citizenship education, positioning schools as spaces for intergenerational dialogue and social-emotional learning. Projects should explore how family involvement shapes children's civic identity, assess the effectiveness of student councils and participatory mechanisms, and analyze how curriculum design can support inclusive civic engagement. Intersectional approaches sensitive to gender and ability are encouraged, as is research into structural barriers in marginalized or diverse communities. Projects are expected to collaborate with schools and education authorities, possibly through pilots or living labs, to create and evaluate innovative participation opportunities in primary or secondary education.
