Description
The North Dakota NASA Space Grant Consortium (NDSGC), housed at the University of North Dakota, provides competitive student research fellowships at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program supports research beyond the classroom under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students propose STEM, STEM education, or NASA-relevant projects and commit to either 10 or 15 hours of research each week during the fellowship term.
Supported work spans multiple disciplines, including engineering, physics, biology, environmental science, and education. Past projects have investigated rocket propulsion, spacecraft structures, supernovae, food production for long-duration missions, flood vulnerability, and reduced-gravity movement. Proposals must explain their relevance to NASA and alignment with a NASA Mission Directorate. The consortium’s broader mission is to expand participation in NASA research and education and help develop the STEM and technical workforce.
