The Student Parent Support Initiative (SPSI) is a competitive grant program administered by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health. Its purpose is to help Minnesota postsecondary institutions, professional organizations, community-based groups, political subdivisions, tribal sovereign nations, and child care providers develop and implement services that support the academic achievement, health, and well-being of pregnant and parenting college students.
Through SPSI, grantees can use funds to increase access to affordable child care, early education, mental health services, stable housing, and direct financial support for student parents. The program aims to bridge opportunity gaps, reduce barriers to postsecondary completion, and promote long-term family success and economic stability.
