Description
The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) presents Student Research Awards annually to graduate students through two programs. Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR), established in 1996, provides supplemental support for research in integrative and comparative biology. The Fellowship for Graduate Student Travel (FGST) supports travel and other expenses at distant laboratories, museums, and field sites, including fieldwork, learning specialized techniques, and using unique equipment or collections.
The SICB Student Support Committee reviews applications and awards support to students across all Society divisions. Special Named Student Research Awards recognize the competition’s top applicants and memorialize deceased members of the SICB community. These named awards are supported by donations to the Student Research Fund.
