The International Center of Medieval Art (ICMA) offers this Student Research Grant to encourage early-stage graduate students to investigate cross-cultural visual connections across the medieval world. The program supports research involving art from regions that, until recently, have often been studied separately, placing relationships between those regions at the center of the project.
The grant can help defray expenses for attending or presenting at a conference, or visiting a museum, archive, or site in pursuit of this research. It is underwritten by Robert E. Jamison, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Clemson University. Winning applications are selected by the ICMA Grants and Awards Committee, chaired by the organization’s Vice-President.
