Description
The Study Leave Research Grant at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is designed to support faculty members who wish to undertake research projects that are separate from their standard employment duties during their study leave. The grant enables researchers to allocate dedicated time and resources to innovative or exploratory work by reducing the non-specific research component of their normal responsibilities, proportional to the value of the award. The program also provides Revenue Canada-approved tax advantages by allowing conversion of a portion of salary to a research grant during study leave.
Applicants are required to submit a detailed project proposal and abstract, and obtain endorsements from their department head and dean, confirming the unique nature of the proposed research.
