    Description

The European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility Digital programme funds adaptable submarine cable repair modules and the operational capabilities needed to deploy them on existing vessels. Managed by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), this call expands repair capacity in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, taking account of EU Outermost Regions’ connectivity needs.

The modules must restore telecom cable services through repair or substitution during declared emergencies where disruption could severely damage Member States and commercial services cannot respond in time. Supported work includes module design, construction and purchase, vessel pre-configuration, shoreside handling and storage equipment, and initial personnel training and certification. The programme seeks faster emergency response and repair, greater network resilience, and stronger EU digital sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
