Description
The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth (TCCY) administers this category of its Title II Federal Formula Grant program. It supports programs, research, and other initiatives addressing the use and abuse of illegal, prescription, and nonprescription drugs and alcohol, including control, prevention, and treatment. The broader program aims to prevent juvenile delinquency, improve Tennessee’s juvenile justice system, and help the state meet Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act mandates.
Projects serve youth under 18 and their families who have had contact with the juvenile justice system or are at risk of contact. TCCY gives preference to direct youth services, particularly delinquency prevention; efforts to reduce racial and ethnic disparities; and evidence-based programs. Funded projects must be part of a comprehensive, coordinated community system of services.
