Description
Sudden and Urgent Needs (SUN) is a crisis-assistance program of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC). It helps financially sustainable human service nonprofits respond to unforeseen circumstances that diminish their ability to provide direct critical services. Eligible organizations primarily serve economically disadvantaged people within the foundation’s designated Western North Carolina service area.
The program addresses urgent disruptions rather than ongoing operations or expanded programming. Recent awards have supported emergency repairs and replacement of essential equipment, including refrigeration, HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, and fire and security systems. SUN is intended to protect critical service delivery when an unexpected problem arises, not to resolve routine budget shortfalls or replace delayed government funding.
