Description
The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) supports quality arts education between school years for preschool (3K–4K) and K–12 students. The program serves both traditional arts providers and other organizations using the arts to meet students’ educational, developmental, and social needs. Activities should expand access and complement, augment, or advance standards-based arts instruction or arts integration aligned with school curriculum.
Supported disciplines are visual, performing, media, and design arts, folk and traditional arts, and creative writing. Projects may include workshops, camps, artist residencies, public art projects, performances, exhibitions, program planning, equipment acquisition, and professional learning. Funding supplements rather than replaces existing arts programming. Priorities include educational partnerships, students in rural or high-poverty areas, and organizations or students in SCAC’s Opportunity Initiative counties.
